We woke to pouring rain, glad of the covered porch so we didn’t get wet on the way to breakfast. There were four other folk at breakfast and we got chatting, one couple are breaking their journey on the way home to Texas. The other couple is spending a few days in the area. We told them about the places we had visited and the short walk in the historic area, before they were whisked off on their house tour and we went to pay the bill and get moving down to New Orleans. We needed our waterproofs just to get to the car with the luggage as the rain was thundering down. We posted some PCs in St Francisville, then got on the right road for Mall of Louisiana and Tanger Outlet Village. I was lucky to get some shoes and then we got to Starbucks for a coffee stop before driving on to the airport to deposit the car and catch the shuttle bus to downtown NOLA. D&S were ready to collect us at the Intercon stop and drive us to Dryades. They needed some shopping so we first went to a wine shop called Swirl where we found some interesting and reasonably priced wines; then stopped by Wholefoods for the groceries. The house looks wonderful as they have cleared the front garden out and laid a stone patio with some beds to the sides. Inside there is the new furniture to appreciate – everything looks lovely. We had delicious quiche for supper and planned tomorrow, which we will spend by ourselves as D&S will be working. We will be fine as we have been equipped with tram tokens so we can get downtown very easily.
