Louisiana Trip

D&S went off to work and we got up and had breakfast ourselves, before heading down to the tram stop for the streetcar into town. We had to be quite sharp as we were taking a walking tour around the hidden courtyards of the French Quarter. A group of about a dozen of us were guided by Bob, who had given up the city life to become involved in tourism. He was part of a group that took over the Laura Plantation in the South Mississippi Plantation area, and he based his walking tour around the story of the family that lived on that plantation. It was so interesting to hear  life in the eighteenth century before the United States of America existed. This was no half hour stroll, but about three hours none stop! So we were ready to find the Croissant D'Or when Bob finally finished (but it was very good.) We had delicious coffee and cake before making our way back to the centre to browse Anthropologie, then walk along the river, passing the Natchez on the way, with a free concert on the calliope.
We met S&D for a gourmet burger, then rendezvoused with another small group to take the ghost tour of the French Quarter. Our guide was a dramatic lady who stopped at various points and told gristly tales that were associated with the area. Great fun!
